Margie Dangerfield

Registered Nurse & Midwife

Accredited HypnoBirthing® Educator

I teach Mums and birth partners evidence-based techniques for a calm, stress-free and empowered birth.

Welcome and congratulations on your pregnancy!

I’m excited to share this positive way of birthing with you.

It has always been my passion to support families during their birth. As a registered nurse and midwife of 35 years, I have delivered hundreds of babies. The vast majority of my career was spent in the birth suite.

Having taught childbirth education classes in a hospital setting, I realised there was a great need for mums and their birth companions to learn more. I was drawn to the amazing techniques of HypnoBirthing to support your birthing safely, calmly and without fear.

I empower women and their birth companions to trust their bodies, to become fully informed about the physiology of the birthing process and how to advocate for yourself in the birth setting of your choice.

I am truly passionate about passing on this information to you so you too can have a positive birth experience, knowing you are fully ready and excited about your birth when the time comes.

Layla & James’s Birth Story

Iluka had gone for a sleepover at his Nan’s. It must have been around 2 or 3am I think, started getting some much tighter tightenings so I just breathed through them in bed and rested in between, I let James keep sleeping and thought I’ll wake him when I need to.

It got to about 6:30 and they were getting closer so I thought I’ll hop in the shower. James woke up and heard the shower going said “what’s going on?”

I told him they are getting tight and asked for the surge timer and asked him to run me a bath. (He asked what else he can do and I said take the taco outside, the taco in the bin in the kitchen, my senses were heightened and that’s what I felt I needed him to do 😂).

washed my hair between surges then I hoped in the bath. He then said “wait, are you pushing? Ok let’s get ready to go” so between surges we made the way to the car, I was breathing down in the car. As I hoped out of the car my waters broke, we walked across the carpark and I stopped and said “she’s coming” so James lent down and caught her ☺️✨.

It was 7:50 so change over time we had two obstetricians heading in for work, she thought I had fallen and James was helping me up because I was leaning on him, and as she walked up to us she saw James catch Pipi and realised what was happening.

I really wanted labour to come on naturally and to feel my waters break, both of those things happened 💕 she was born 40+1 outside in the fresh air in Tweed Hospital carpark!

Some dads say they felt helpless and couldn’t do much to help… not James, he was in action the whole time and then caught her!

We are thankful for the videos we watched with you because otherwise, James may not have been as confident in catching her.
